Mansfield learners took the chance to find out more about the 14-19 Diplomas by visiting the Diploma Roadshow held at the Civic Centre recently.  Year 9 learners from Brunts School, Garibaldi School, Manor School, Meden School and Queen Elizabeth's School were able to use touch screen kiosks to view online information and take part in discussions in innovative inflatable 'pods' about the Diplomas which will be on offer to them.

 

Connexions demonstrated the new online Diploma application process, Aimhigher provided information on progression pathways into higher education, whilst NEBA provided guidance on Diploma choices.

 

Berni Dickinson, director of the Mansfield Learning Partnership, who organised the event said: "The Diplomas are being delivered in Mansfield in partnership with the schools, West Notts College and employers which ensures learners have access to the strengths and talents of a number of teachers as well as specialist facilities and resources."

 

Young people in Mansfield were amongst the first in the country to begin studying the Diplomas in 2008 and now 180 local students are taking Diplomas in various subjects.  From this September, Mansfield learners will be able to study; Business, Administration & Finance; Construction & the Built Environment; Creative & Media; Engineering; Hair & Beauty; Hospitality; Information Technology; Society, Health & Development and Sport & Active Leisure.
