Year 7 students at the Becket School took part in a STEM Engineering activity day organised by Education Business Futures.
The aim of the day was to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) with the students undertaking exciting challenges including constructing a tower from marshmallows and spaghetti, designing and building a rocket launcher, a drag race buggy powered by an elastic band and a four metre tall tetrahedron.
Each session was led by STEM Ambassadors and external providers. Jacqui Aram, Stempoint Co-ordinator for Nottinghamshire said: "We designed the day to give students an insight into the different areas linked to STEM subjects and to bring their learning alive."
David Bailey, a STEM Ambassador who works for the British Geological Survey said: "It was was really exciting to be involved in the STEM day. As an Amabassador I am passionate about young people having the opportunity to explore different subject areas and realise their potential."
