Shortly before the summer break, students from White Hills Park Federation in Broxtowe visited explo're Manufacturing in Steetley as part of their work-related learning activities required for the Diploma in Manufacturing and Product Design (MPD).
explo're Manufacturing, a facility which is part of the Laing O'Rourke Group, is committed to engaging and inspiring students in the range of opportunities open to them if they are interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing.
Students began the day with an introduction to the pre-cast concrete manufacturing facility, the largest of its kind in Europe, followed by a factory tour. They had a number of projects set for them, some of which were carried out during the day and others which were taken back to the classroom to be completed.
HR Manager, Steve Buczek, said: "We have found that bringing students to a live manufacturing site enhances their understanding of the industry, bringing to life the roles and opportunities available while providing an exciting and memorable experience."
From September new diplomas will be on offer to young people across Nottinghamshire adding to the ten lines already being delivered. These are:
- Diploma in Retail Business
- Diploma in Sport & Active Leisure
- Diploma in Public Services
If you work in any of these sectors the EBF team would welcome the opportunity to discuss how you can support learners with work placements and visits. They can be contacted by emailing
