NEBA is partnering with the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and local employers to deliver innovative workshops to a group of Year 11 Construction GCSE learners from The Trinity School. The CIC represents professional bodies, research organisations and specialist business associations in the construction industry.
Trinity School learners will be participating in the Coaching Scheme, a unique programme which will see them working with practitioners (coaches) from the construction industry. NEBA has recruited 5 local construction industry professionals to be coaches from: Faithful and Gould, Turner and Townsend and Rok Building Ltd.
The GCSE learners have been set a project related to the use of pods in the built environment and together with their allocated coaches will design and model their own pod. 5 coaching sessions will take place culminating in presentations and an awards ceremony early next year.
The project aims to raise awareness amongst young people about the range of career options available in the planning, design and management disciplines and to give learners the opportunity to get a better understanding of the tasks and challenges that can be faced in the world of work.
If you are a built environment professional and would like to be involved with the CIC Coaching Scheme please contact Sam Webster at NEBA by email s.webster@neba.org.uk or telephone 01623 404345.
