Quality Placements for Young People in Nottinghamshire
A number of Construction and Built Environment Diploma learners from Hadden Park High School successfully completed targeted work experience placements with Nottingham City Homes in October. The Diploma learners were placed with experienced built environment professionals and completed tasks relating to their studies.
Nottingham City Homes have worked closely with NEBA to gain a better understanding of the Construction and Built Environment Diploma qualification. The result of this collaboration was quality, relevant work experience placements.
Jordan Barber, a student at Hadden Park who wants to be an electrician said: "I got the chance to do tests at properties and other things as well; having that experience is the sort of thing that will be important when it comes to looking for jobs."
Clayton Hickling, another Construction and Built Environment Diploma learner, completed his placement in the window fitting department and said: "i wouldn't have had the chance to pick up that sort of experience in school. The work placement was really good. I went out with staff from Nottingham City Homes and had the chance to do things for myself rather than watching."
NEBA are working with many employers across all business sectors to provide targeted work experience placements for 14-19 Diploma learners. The business engagement team work with employers to ensure they are informed and advised on the 14-19 Diplomas.
