Diplomas

The Diploma is a new qualification for young people aged 14-19 designed to give the valuable skills and knowledge which are essential for success in further education and employment.

Diplomas have been developed by schools, colleges, universities and employers working together. They will become one of the three main education options for young people alongside GCSEs/A Levels and Apprenticeships.

Currently there are 10 Diplomas offered but by 2011 there will be 17 different Diplomas. Each Diploma focuses on a particular career area but learners will also need to achieve a minimum standard in English, Maths and ICT, complete a project and undertake 10 days on a work experience placement.
