STEM Ambassadors

STEM Ambassadors are people with a background in science, technology, engineering or maths who volunteer their time to work with local schools, teachers and young people.

They provide a refreshing change to regular lessons and activities and open the door to a whole new world for young people, helping them to see STEM subjects and careers with a fresh perspective and engage their interest and imagination in new ways.

STEM Ambassadors can support a range of activities including:

  • Business & Enterprise days
  • Interview Skills days
  • Mentoring programmes
  • Offer work experience placements
  • Give talks in school based on their own experiences
  • Support out of school activities such as clubs, competitions and other projects

Ambassadors have the opportunity to:

  • Gain a fresh perspective on day to day work when seen through the eyes of the students
  • Face a different challenge to that of everyday work
  • Enjoy a sense of achievement after delivering an activity
  • Help make a difference in the local community
  • Challenge stereotypes young people have about STEM subjects and related careers
  • Strengthen your own skills, including communication, planning and presentation skills
  • Have lots of fun and enjoy the buzz and energy from the young people!

For more information on the Ambassadors programme or for an informal chat about becoming an Ambassador please telephone the EBF STEM team on 0115 9601540.

If you are enthusiastic and passionate about STEM subjects and careers why not sign up as an Ambassador and share your knowledge with young people in Nottinghamshire.

You can Register at the STEMNET website.
